Born on June 29, 1963, in New Delhi, Bikhchandani grew up in a middle-class family that valued education and hard work. He completed his schooling at St. Columba's School in Delhi in 1981. He then pursued a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from St. Stephen's College, Delhi University, graduating in 1984. Furthering his education, he earned an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM-A) in 1989 .
